Speech Therapy is a field that works to improve a person's communication skills, including their speech, listening and writing skills, and their ability to think, swallow and problem solve.
Lutheran Hospital's Speech Therapy program treats adults and pediatric patients with impairments including:
- Speech and language disorders due to weakness, incoordination of muscles or motor planning
- Cognitive and communication disorders including memory, reasoning and problem solving
- Swallowing
- Voice, including pitch, loudness or vocal quality
- Developmental delays
- Post-laryngectomy

A prescription from a physician is necessary for a speech therapy evaluation.
